Yesterday saw an opportunistic walk as the weather was rather pleasant (unlike todays cool/wet conditions). Around Brough:
pink poppies
buzzing bees
and inquisitive calves (after my friend persuaded one to leave the river and re-united her with the group).
Saturdays wonderful sunshine saw me in the Eden with my young friend. A couple of photo opportunities were grabbed on the phone camera from in the river.
The little fishes must have seen us coming and stayed out of reach of the net. But we had fun and neither of us fell in – although there were some slippery moments.
Couldn’t resist a couple of beautiful blooms.
Spotted these Poppies round the corner from my home. On the way back another couple of blooms caught my attention. The honeysuckle perfume was heavenly.
With the cancellation of Prom Art yesterday due to thunderstorm warnings, I decided to use some time productively. Started 2 poster style paintings that have been in my head for a few weeks. I like the way the top one is going but some thought needed for the bottom one.
First day in the Upper Eden Visitor Centre for several weeks. Busy day with lots of visitors. Re-stocked my popular lambs playtime print/cards. Changeover of artworks and some photos. Hoping the till balances after I had to figure out changing the roll and managing to put a transaction twice.
Completed in pastel because I was given a bunch of green pastels and decided to play with them.
When I recently said to the lovely Sarah Reid “I never seem to have the right shade of green and I was getting quite down on ochre pastels” look what was waiting for me in her Red Raw Studio. I have commenced an artwork with lots of greens to have a play with them. As I am now at the stage where I’m going in with the darks and lights (aka wreck it) decided to show you at this stage.
A sunny stroll around the lanes and pastures of Brough Sowerby revealed some lovely flowers. Bluebells, Whitebells, Wild Orchids and May Blossom.
Printathon has taken place this week in preparation for summer art events – starting with this weekends Prom Art. Unfortunately I have run out of card cellos so not all printed will be be on show. Irritation occurred when I didn’t spot lines in the blacks then on a re-print of some items, lines appeared in the blues. Note to self for future “when doing a printathon do some printer maintenance and checks before starting”.
My student Peter from the recent pencil workshop sent me this picture of his completed piece. I think he did rather well.
with cat and landscape prints bookmarks and cards leaving the event ( thank you buyers ). We didn’t finish the picture on the pencil workshop but my student has the techniques to complete the work. I enjoyed attending a tissue paper collage workshop. A few ideas for next years event have been noted. CU again in 2025.
