I wanted to show the play of light on the roof of the stack at New Aberdour beach. Took me a short while to figure out how to edit a portrait video to show the right way up.

Home from Moray
Returned home from my Moray trip. Great weather during the 2nd week meant lots of walking and photography and less drawing/painting. I particularly liked New Aberdour Beach where a low tide meant getting over the rocks to look at the geology including a stack.
And I was inspired to do an artwork.
Holiday Sketches
A few sketches of things that caught my eye last week.
Port Gordon Seal
Cullen Kings
Sandend Heron
Arty Lighthouse Portsoy
Late afternoon over Clochlan fields
Late afternoon on Cullen Beach
More to come from this week.
Goodbye Buckie
As we move along the Moray Firth tomorrow, looked through the photos taken over the last few days around the Buckie area. Most time has been spent on the beautiful beaches and wandering around the historic harbours.
Moray Firth
Enjoying a wonderful view from our cottage.
Blue skies and sea.
And some of the locals relaxing on the beach.
First Fungi Hunt 2023
Yesterday I decided to go looking for fungi. Donned wellingtons and outdoor gear and set off. After a few hours I was muddy and hot with coat tied around waist and sleeves rolled up - but I enjoyed myself. Hope you like the results.
More Stones
As there was quite a bit of paint remaining in the palette from last weeks batch of stones, I worked 2 more yesterday. Now varnished and drying whilst custom stands are made.
New Stones
The sale of quite a few stones has prompted the painting of some more.
You can see them in development from here.
Talkin Tarn
A meet up with a friend saw a visit to Talkin Tarn yesterday. Expecting an overcast day I didn’t take the camera. As it turned out we had a delightful meander around the tarn with skies blueing as we walked.
Into the woods where fungi were fabulous – although most had been nibbled at except for one intact specimen ( a shaggy parasol I think ).
Printing
With the completion of Galaxy CATching 3, the pc and printer have been in operation along with the glue and beads. End result limited edition prints of the 3 galaxy CATching artworks, a6 cards, bookmarks and a5 embellished cards.
Galaxy CATching 3
Has left the easel and heading into a white frame. The third in the series added to the CATching artwork Gallery and prints also available.
Work in Progress can be viewed from here.
Sunset Sales
On duty at the Upper Eden Visitor Centre today (here until 4pm) . Pleased to find that 2 of my limited edition photo prints of Kirby Stephen sunsets are on their way to a new home.
Rocky
After working on Rocky for several weeks at Art Group Meetings, he was completed today.
You can see his progress from here.
Augill Pasture
On todays outing we left Brough and walked up to Augill Pasture. Wandered through the woods spotting a few Fungi.
From the top of the pasture the view was immense – here’s looking towards the Howgills.
Into the pastures butterflies were feasting on the wildflowers – Red Admirals, Small Whites, Peacocks, one Speckled Wood and a Comma – who was too quick for the camera.
On the way back down into Brough great views of the Fells and Brough Castle.
Galaxy CATching
2 new paintings finished this week - Galaxy CATching 1
and its partner Galaxy CATching 2
Several changes were made on the way which you can read about from here.
Out and about over the last weeks.
Changeable weather and clear cool air have created wonderful clouds over Kirkby Stephen in the last couple of weeks.
Wild Boar taken from the Hartley / Kirkby Stephen footpath.
Observatory and the Pennines taken from the Viaduct walk.
2 From Ash fell ( as we were waiting at the roadworks traffic lights ). Over Ravenstonedale to the fells as we left Kirkby Stephen. Looking towards the Pennines with the heather in bloom as we came home.
